With a robust 20- years experience as a clinical nephrologist, Dr Subhash Bhaskaran Pillai brings a wealth of expertise in addressing kidney-related ailments. His career has been marked by diverse experiences across the globe, having practiced nephrology in the distinct healthcare landscapes of India, Canada and UAE. After obtaining his basic subspeciality training in nephrology from the prestigious King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Mumbai in 2005, Dr. Bhaskaran Pillai went on to complete his Clinical Fellowship in Adult Nephrology at the University Of Toronto in 2008. Back in India, he then served as a teaching faculty and consultant nephrologist at Pushpagiri Medical College till 2025, where he was instrumental in starting a successful living donor and deceased donor kidney transplantation program. He spearheaded a busy hemodialysis unit catering to around 200 maintenance hemodialysis patients, and a successful ambulatory peritoneal dialysis program. As professor and head of the department, he not only imparted teaching and training to postgraduate trainees in nephrology, but also was engaged in original research leading to many publications in reputed national & international journals.
During his previous stint in UAE between 2013 and 2016 as a specialist nephrologist, Dr Bhaskaran Pillai was instrumental in starting the nephrology department and hemodialysis unit at Ahalia Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
