Dr. Wisam Selbi is a highly skilled Consultant Neurosurgeon bringing over 15 years of specialized experience in Neurosurgery to NMC. Prior to joining NMC, he served as a consultant neurosurgeon focusing on complex spine procedures at the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital in the UK since 2021.

His rigorous academic and clinical foundation includes postgraduate training in neurosurgery across the South West of England (Bristol and Plymouth), followed by an esteemed complex spine fellowship in Exeter, UK. Before his neurosurgical training, Dr. Selbi completed his PhD at Cardiff University in Wales and undertook basic surgical training in the East Midlands (Nottingham). Alongside his clinical practice, he has dedicated time to academic and clinical excellence, previously holding the roles of senior clinical lecturer and clinical co-lead for Anatomy at the medical school of Exeter University, and clinical governance lead for spinal surgery.

  • Minimally invasive approaches to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine including anterior, posterior, and lateral approaches.
  • In the cervical spine: motion sparing procedures like cervical disc replacement, laminoplasty, and keyhole posterior foraminotomy. If motion preserving surgery is not indicated, he utilizes anterior and/or posterior cervical fusion techniques of the cervical spine.
  • Anterior, lateral, posterior as well as minimally invasive approaches to the thoracic and lumbar spine.
  • Using Computer Navigated Spine Surgery which enhances surgical accuracy in addition to minimising radiation to the patients
  • Management of: brain tumours (benign or malignant) using neuro-navigation technologies, head injuries, craniofacial pains (eg. Trigeminal neuralgia) and hydrocephalus (including normal pressure hydrocephalus).
