Dr Wilfred John is a highly skilled Specialist General Surgeon with extensive experience in general surgery and trauma care. He previously practiced at NMC Specialty Hospital, Muscat, from December 2017 until his recent departure. Dr Wilfred holds an FMAS (Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery) from AMASI India (2015) and a DNB in General Surgery from Govt. Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala, under the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. He completed his M.B.B.S. at the Academy of Medical Sciences, Pariyaram, Kannur, Kerala, affiliated with Kannur University.
During his tenure at NMC, Dr Wilfred developed significant expertise in performing a broad range of general and laparoscopic surgical procedures, as well as upper and lower GI endoscopies. He also has substantial experience in managing casualty and trauma cases. Before his role at NMC, he served as a Senior Resident in the Department of General Surgery at Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Kerala, and as a Consultant General Surgeon at Meditrina Hospital, Kollam, Kerala. His previous positions include Junior Consultant at S.P. Fort Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, Registrar at SUT Hospital, and Assistant Surgeon at Govt. District Hospital, Thrissur.
Earlier in his career, Dr Wilfred served as a Resident Medical Officer at The Salvation Army Medical Centre, Kangazha, and as a Junior Resident in Neurosurgery at Pushpagiri Medical College, Thiruvalla. Fluent in English, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi, Dr Wilfred brings a wealth of knowledge in general and laparoscopic surgeries, with a special focus on trauma care.
