
Dr Shaista Meraj is a UK trained Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Women’s Imaging. She has 22 years of distinguished career in the NHS.
As a Consultant Radiologist, she has worked at Bolton Hospital NHS Trust UK for 10 years. Bolton breast unit is a busy centre with Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services. Dr Shaista was the radiology lead for symptomatic breast services overseeing the clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management.
She is thoroughly proficient in multimodality breast imaging and interventions, leveraged to refine patient diagnosis and treatment with multidisciplinary collaboration. She actively participates in breast cancer research trials and has published in scientific journals.
Dr Shaista has keen interest in teaching, training and supervision. She has worked as GMC associate examiner and is a lecturer at Edge Hill University UK. She is an accredited GMC appraiser and sits on various interview and assessment panels. Her other interests are AI, digital transformation and service design. She has demonstrated a pioneering approach in integration of AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency.
Dr Shaista participated in the Regional Enterprise Imaging Procurement for Greater Manchester. This was one of the largest region-wide imaging initiatives in Europe. Dr Shaista provides advisory services to health tech companies. She has worked with Google Health DeepMind project for breast cancer screening demonstrating her commitment to global health advancements and innovation through international partnerships.
She is a member of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) and Radiology Society of Emirates (RSE).
