Dr Aleem has over 19 years of clinical experience including general internal medicine. He started working in Cardiology in 2013. He has been extensively trained in Coronary angioplasty techniques in high volume centers in UK and Canada with a specific interest in complex PCI.

Apart from rigorous clinical training, he has an interest in clinical teaching and also completed a Post graduate qualification in ‘clinical education’ from the University of Newcastle UK. He was an associate clinical tutor for the University of Newcastle in 2014 and has taught medical students and allied health professionals from the University of Durham, University of Teeside and University of Newcastle.

During his training he has completed multiple projects including research work which have been published in reputable journals such as “JACC”, “Circulation”, “Heart” etc. He regularly attends well known conferences to keep up to date with recent data and practices.

He is of British Paksitani heritage and fluent in English, Pushto, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi.

Following completion of his basic medical qualification he started his post graduate training from the UK. After completion of Foundation and Core medical training leading to MRCP Member of the Royal College of Physicians(London , he started “Specialty training in Cardiology“ in the North east of the UK. After completing his first three years in general Cardiology training he started his two year Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the highest volume center in the UK. He completed his Interventional Cardiology training program under the auspices of Royal college of Physicians(UK) leading to CCT (Certificate of completion of training ) awarded by the Royal College of Physicians and GMC (General medical council-UK).

To enhance his skill set in “Complex coronary angioplasty”, he then completed an Adult Interventional Cardiology Fellowship from the University of Manitoba at St Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, this was under the auspices of the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons Canada.

He was also awarded the Diploma for Area of focused competence “Adult Interventional Cardiology” by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada following his completion of fellowship. During this time he was trained in mechanical circulatory support assisted PCI including use of Impella and ECMO. He was trained in complex PCI including the use of Rotablator, IVL, cutting balloons etc

In recognition of his Dr Aleem’s training, procedural volume and service development he was awarded the Post nominal of FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of physicians, London) and FSCAI (Fellow of the society of Angiography and Interventions USA) in 2021.

He has also been proctor for Boston Scientific (USA) for complex coronary angioplasty specifically Rotablation facilitated PCI.
