Dr Aleem is a board-certified Interventional Cardiologist from the UK and completed the CCT program from the Northern Deanery rotation. He is fully trained in general cardiology and has passed the "European Exam in Core Cardiology" (EECC).
As a part of his training from UK, he has completed his fellowship in coronary intervention at world renowned heart centers i.e. Freeman Hospital (Newcastle) and James Cook University Hospital. Middlesbrough. During his fellowship, he was trained in emergency PCI and complex coronary intervention and fully independent in using calcium modifying techniques, intravascular imaging and bifurcation techniques. He has extensive experience in performing coronary angioplasty in surgical decline patients and patients with failing graft in previous coronary artery bypass patients.
Dr Aleem is also separate "fellowship" trained in complex coronary angioplasty from Canada and has completed the "area of focused competence" Diploma from the University of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had the opportunity to perform mechanical circulatory support assisted PCI i.e. Impella and ECMO and became fully independent in high risk coronary angioplasty techniques like Rotational atherectomy
He has extensive experience of working in the UK, Canada, Pakistan and UAE both in government and private health care systems.
He is currently a fellow of:
- Royal College of Physicians (London) - FRCP, MRCP
- Society of Angiography and Intervention - (FSCAI) - USA
He has an interest in teaching and has completed the Post-graduate Certification in clinical education from the University of Newcastle. He has extensive experience in teaching undergraduate medical and allied health students and was a tutor for the University of Newcastle and University of Durham. He has also been involved in teaching post graduate students for the MRCP PACES examination and was an examiner for the MBBS program at the University of Newcastle.
