Dr Sangala is an experienced Consultant Nephrologist with extensive expertise in kidney medicine, transplantation, and dialysis. He didi his undergraduate training at the world renown Kings College in London and went on to work in centres of excellence including Kings College Hospital and Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He completed his Nephrology training at the Wessex Kidney Centre, one of the largest haemodialysis centres in the UK, and a renal transplant centre. He is dual qualified as a Nephrologist and Intensivist, and is a published researcher.
He is highly skilled in all aspects of haemodialysis and haemodiafiltration. He is a strong advocate for patient-cantered care and works with his patients to ensure the best possible quality of life as a dialysis patient. He is an expert of managing vascular access to ensure longevity and the best experience for his patients. He led one of the largest home haemodialysis programs in the UK.
Dr Sangala has extensive experience in kidney transplantation including pre-transplant optimisation and post-transplant care, ensuring long-term transplant survival and patient well-being.
Dr Sangala also established a dedicated renal vasculitis service in the UK, delivering tailored, multidisciplinary care that improved patient outcomes and quality of life.
He is passionate about early recognition and management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) to reduce progression to kidney failure and the need for dialysis or transplantation. He believes this should be the priority for millions of people who are unknowingly slowly losing their kidney function. He therefore welcomes referrals for anyone with any reduction in kidney function or proteinuria for early diagnosis and optimisation.
He is an accomplished interventional nephrologist, he is proficient in renal biopsies (native and transplant) as well as temporary and permanent venous catheter insertions.
