Dr Najmul Hassan Shah A consultant gastroenterologist/hepatologist with more than 35 years clinical experience,including more than 25 years senior consultant gastroenterologist/hepatologist experience with competency in both Upper and Lower GI endoscopy and ERCP.
Dr Shah has UK based NHS experience as a consultant gastroenterologist at Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Heartland hospital NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals in UK while an excellent track record for conceiving, creating and successfully leading liver donor liver transplant and hepatology services as a founder director and transplant hepatologist in Islamabad and also served as a medical director and transplant Hepatologist at PKLI, Lahore. He is a trainer and supervisor for postgraduate gastroenterology fellows with extensive original research publications in peer reviewed international journals.
At NMC, apart from general gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr Shah specifically offers an evidenced based, innovative, modern, life changing individualised management for patients with Metabolic dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease and Obesity as well as patients with long standing “Difficult to treat functional GI disorders” like functional dyspepsia and heart burn, aerophagia, burping, belching, chronic bloating, centrally mediated chronic abdominal pains and irritable bowel syndrome.
Dr Shah has a special interest and expertise in patients with pregnancy related GI and liver disorders, endocrine patients with abnormal liver functions and fatty liver with metabolic dysfunction and general surgical patients with gall stone pancreatitis or obstructive jaundice and post surgical bile leaks.
