Dr. Muhammad Azhar Abdullah is a UK-trained and board-certified (CCT, UK) Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician with extensive experience in musculoskeletal, joint, and autoimmune conditions.
He graduated from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan in 2005 and completed specialist training in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine through the West of Scotland Deanery, United Kingdom. During his training, he worked at several leading NHS institutions, including Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. He subsequently held Consultant Rheumatologist positions at University Hospital Ayr and Forth Valley Royal Hospital before relocating to the UAE.
Dr. Azhar now provides consultant rheumatology care in the UAE.
His clinical interests include inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, ankylosing spondylitis and complex musculoskeletal disorders. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of joint pain, muscle symptoms, systemic autoimmune diseases, and use of biologic therapies.
Dr. Azhar is committed to delivering evidence-based care with a focus on accurate diagnosis and early intervention. He has held academic roles with the University of Glasgow and the Royal College of Physicians .Dr Azhar has presented his research work at major international meetings, including the British Society for Rheumatology and the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR). He also holds postgraduate qualifications in healthcare management & clinical education, together with certifications in musculoskeletal ultrasound and medical appraisal.
