Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Shahbuddin is a UK-trained Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist with over 20 years of experience in NHS, including more than a decade in diabetes and hormone-related conditions. He is known for his patient-centred approach and clear communication style.
After completing his undergraduate medical degree in India in 2002, Dr. Shahbuddin pursued his advanced training in the NHS in UK, earning specialist qualifications (CCT) in General Internal Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology. He has worked at several leading NHS hospitals, including Nottingham University Hospitals (Queens Medical centre and City Hospital) and Royal Derby Hospital.
During this period, he was actively involved in regional, national, and international conferences and publications, showcasing both his academic commitment and clinical expertise. He was awarded Best Presentation twice at regional conferences and is recognized for his excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and unwavering focus on patient welfare. Dr. Shahbuddin has also completed Leadership and Management modules in the East Midlands Deanery and has taken on multiple leadership roles throughout his career. He is a certified ALS provider and attended various other courses and conferences including Insulin pump course, MODY, Radio-iodine in benign thyroid disease.
Prior to relocating to the UAE, He has served as a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
He is passionate about education, leadership, and mentorship. He has held numerous teaching and supervisory roles. He has trained and supported medical students, junior doctors, physician associates, and diabetes specialist nurses, and has been actively involved in quality improvement projects and clinical audits. He has served as both a Clinical and Educational Supervisor, guiding trainees through audits, quality improvement projects, case presentations and publications. As a consultant He has played a phenomenal role in the success of several service development initiatives.
He is certified in DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) and brings a wealth of experience across various specialty clinics, each with distinct challenges and clinical priorities.
