Dr. Aqelah completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Germany and has been practicing in the German healthcare system since the beginning of his medical residency. He began his training at St. Barbara-Klinik Hamm, a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Münster, where he gained comprehensive clinical and surgical experience. During this time, he developed his skills in endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery, with a focus on gynecologic oncology and breast reconstruction surgery.
In 2017, Dr. Aqelah obtained his Facharzt (Specialist certification) from the Ärztekammer Düsseldorf (North Rhine Medical Chamber). He then worked as a specialist in the field before being appointed as a Consultant in 2021 at Marienhospital Aachen, a teaching hospital affiliated with RWTH Aachen University. At Marienhospital, Dr. Aqelah further specialized in modern obstetric care and minimally invasive surgical techniques. His clinical focus includes a broad spectrum of oncologic and benign gynecologic surgeries, performed via both laparoscopic and open approaches.
In the field of gynecologic oncology, Dr. Aqelah is experienced in performing total laparoscopic hysterectomies with salpingo-oophorectomy, as well as laparoscopic sentinel lymphadenectomy using indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence technology, ensuring precise, minimally invasive treatment of gynecologic cancers. In addition, he has co-led the Tumorzentrum (Tumor Center) at his institution, with a strong focus on the modern, minimally invasive management of benign gynecological tumors, especially fibroids, using state-of-the-art surgical techniques.
