Dr. Maher Milhem is a highly experienced General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with more than 36 years of expertise in clinical and academic practice. He began his career in Baghdad before moving to the UAE in 2006, where he served as a Specialist General Surgeon at Saqr Hospital under the Ministry of Health and Prevention until 2025. Dr. Maher has built a distinguished reputation for clinical excellence and is a dedicated contributor to the advancement of surgical care in the region.
Dr. Maher completed his MBChB from Baghdad University in 1989 and obtained his Board Certification in General Surgery in 1997. To further advance his skills, he completed a Fellowship at McMaster University, Canada (2015–2019), gaining specialized training in minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Maher has been a prominent figure in medical education. Since 2012, he has served as an Associate Professor of General Surgery at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAK MHSU), where he is actively involved in mentoring and training the next generation of surgeons.
Dr. Maher is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the Iraq Medical Association, and the Canadian Physicians and Surgeons Group. Over the years, he has gained a strong reputation for his clinical excellence, academic contributions, and dedication to advancing surgical care in the UAE.
