Dr Himanshu Chauhan is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Specialist with over two decades of experience in anaesthesia, perioperative care, and interventional pain management. Before joining NMC Hospital, he served as Associate Staff in Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and as a Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University, USA.
He completed his MD in Anaesthesiology from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, and his Senior Residency in Anaesthesia, Pain, and Palliative Care at AIIMS, New Delhi. He holds multiple prestigious international certifications, including the Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP, USA), European Diploma in Pain Medicine (EDPM), European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (EDAIC), and a Fellowship in Pain Management (FIPM)from LNCT University, Bhopal.
Dr. Chauhan’s professional experience spans across leading institutions in India and the UAE, including roles as Specialist Anaesthesiologist at Al Salama Hospital, Abu Dhabi, and Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology at Subharti Medical College, Meerut.
His core expertise includes comprehensive perioperative management for diverse surgical specialties, difficult airway management, and advanced regional anaesthesia. He has specialized training in interventional pain medicine, offering procedures such as epidural and facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks, and regenerative therapies for chronic spine, joint, neuropathic, and cancer-related pain.
As an active faculty member in international workshops and conferences, Dr. Chauhan is passionate about advancing education in pain medicine. His approach emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary care, focusing on improving patient comfort, functionality, and quality of life.

Perioperative & In-Patient Care
- Comprehensive pre-operative assessment and optimization of patients for diverse surgical specialties: General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Paediatric Surgery.
- Expert in perioperative anaesthetic management and post-anaesthesia care, Skilled in ambulatory anaesthesia and enhanced recovery protocols.
- Proficient in difficult airway management, including fibreoptic techniques, submental intubation, and percutaneous tracheostomy.
Ultrasound & Interventional Skills
- Expertise in ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization and regional anaesthesia blocks.
- Highly skilled in interventional chronic pain management, including:
- Fluoroscopy (C-arm) guided procedures: epidural steroid injections, facet joint interventions, medial branch RFA, SI joint injections, sympathetic blocks.
Ultrasound-guided procedures:
- Peripheral nerve and plexus blocks, stellate ganglion block, TAP block, genicular nerve blocks, musculoskeletal and joint interventions.
