Before joining NMC, he served as the Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), Kerala—a 600-bed tertiary care hospital and the first multi-specialty institution in India to receive NABH accreditation. During his tenure at MIMS.

Dr. Shankar holds an MBBS from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, and an M.Ch. In Neurosurgery from the esteemed Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore. He further enhanced his surgical skills through a clinical fellowship in Skull Base and Vascular Neurosurgery at Fujita University, Japan. He also collaborated with Surgical Oncologists, Plastic Surgeons, and Maxillofacial Surgeons to perform intricate multidisciplinary operations.
