Dr. Razia Sharafudeen serves as the Medical Director, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at NMC Royal Hospital, Abu Dhabi, one of the leading maternity hospitals in the region. She is widely recognised for her excellence in prenatal care and is considered one of the most trusted and respected obstetricians and gynaecologists in Abu Dhabi.

With nearly 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Razia has built an exceptional reputation for her expertise in obstetrics and her compassionate, patient-focused approach. She is highly skilled in managing patients from diverse backgrounds and across all levels of clinical complexity.

Her hallmark throughout her career has been her compassion and hands-on care. Her presence in the labour room during critical moments has supported more than seven thousand births, earning the trust and gratitude of her patients and their families.

Dr. Razia is a Fellow and Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK (FRCOG, MRCOG). She is also a Member of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR), and the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS). In addition, she holds a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (F.MAS) and a Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (FRM) following her MBBS and postgraduate training at Government Medical College, Trivandrum, India.

Her clinical interests include high-risk obstetrics, medical disorders in pregnancy, recurrent and early pregnancy loss, reproductive medicine and infertility management, general gynaecology, minimally invasive procedures, and vaginal surgeries including cosmetic and uterovaginal prolapse procedures.

Dr. Razia is experienced in managing normal and complex deliveries, operative vaginal births, preterm deliveries, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), and cases involving multiple previous caesarean sections. Before joining NMC Royal Women’s Hospital, she served for nine years as a Lead Obstetrician in a tertiary-level maternity unit in Saudi Arabia where she gained extensive expertise in VBAC and complex surgical obstetric cases.

She is also a certified trainer for PROMPT, ALSO, and the Advanced CTG Course.

Dr. Razia holds professional licenses in the United Arab Emirates (Department of Health Abu Dhabi and Dubai Health Authority), the United Kingdom (General Medical Council), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Saudi Commission for Health Specialties), and India (Medical Council of India).

She has authored several publications and has been invited to speak at multiple regional and international conferences.
