Dr. Prakash Shankar completed his M.B.B.S. at Chengalpattu Medical College in 2002 and his M.D. at Madurai Medical College in 2007 followed by completion of his D.M. in Gastroenterology from Kilpauk Medical College in 2012.
Dr. Prakash joined the Meenakshi Medical College’s department of medicine as assistant professor from 2007 until 2008. He also worked as consultant gastroenterologist at Bharath Hospital, Kottayam until 2014. He joined at Vadamalayan Hospitals, Madurai from 2014 until 2016 as consultant gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist.
He further worked as specialist gastroenterologist at a tertiary care private hospital in Dubai from 2016 to 2020 prior to his joining at NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain.
His key areas of interest are diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, colonoscopy, GERD, H. PYLORI treatment, ERCP and EUS.
To his credit he was awarded with University Gold Medal in 2012 – Medical Gastroenterology, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R., Medical University and has also cleared ESEGH exam in 2018.
Dr. Prakash, is a member of European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy India.
He is fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
