Dr Pooja Vaswani is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 35 years of experience in the field. She speaks fluent Arabic, as she has worked in the Middle East for over 24 years including countries like UAE and Sultanate of Oman.
She received her medical degree (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Nagpur, India in 1985 after which she did Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the year 1989 and later obtained MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the year 1992 from the prestigious Indira Gandhi Govt. Medical College, Nagpur, India.
She then completed her MRCOG from the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, United Kingdom in 2005 followed by Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery in 2008. Dr Pooja has keen interest in keeping herself up-to-date with her knowledge and skills. She pursued her interest in infertility and underwent 1-year training in assisted reproduction and completed her Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine in 2015. In 2017, Dr Pooja was awarded the prestigious Fellowship from the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, United Kingdom (FRCOG). In 2020, she was conferred with fellowship of Indian college of obstetricians and gynaecologists (FICOG).
To keep herself updated with newer developments she has acquired life membership of Federation Of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of India(FOGSI),Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction( ISAR),World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons(WALS) and makes sure to attend national and international conferences on a regular basis every year. To keep herself abreast with current practices and clinical advances she never misses a chance to undergo various training programs.
She started her career as a Lecturer in Indira Gandhi Govt. Medical College, Nagpur where she mastered her clinical experience by managing a variety of complicated clinical cases. Apart from enriching her clinical experience she gained excellent experience in teaching and education through her role as a Lecturer for Obstetrics and Gynaecology while working in Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur, India. She moved to the Middle East in 1999 and has worked with various prestigious institutions. Dr Pooja has worked in UAE at SEHA-managed healthcare facilities namely Mafraq hospital and Madinat Zayed Hospital for 6 years and with Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman for over 9 years. Prior to joining NMC Royal Women’s Hospital, she worked as a specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecologist at one of the leading private hospitals in Abu Dhabi.
Over a span of 35 years of her professional career she has been passionately involved in countless number of deliveries many of which are high risk cases. Having worked over so many years in a region having multinational population and varied cultures she develops quick rapport with patients from all nationalities.
Her special interests are high risk maternal medicine, operative vaginal deliveries, complicated caesarean sections, twin pregnancies, pregnancies associated with fibroids, painless labour, laparoscopic surgeries and colposcopy, major gynaecological surgeries, infertility, cervical and breast cancer screening.

- She won the first prize for her presentation on the topic “Obesity and Pregnancy outcomes in UAE population with high prevalence of obesity-How bad is it?” in Abu Dhabi SEHA Research Conference in December 2011.
