He completed his MBBS in 1987 and subsequently joined the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Studies (AIIMS), where he completed his MD in General Medicine in 1991. Following this, he worked as a Senior Resident of Medicine with AIIMS until 1996. During this time, he was also an Assistant Professor at the nationally top 10-ranked JIPMER, Pondicherry. In 1996, he joined Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi as Associate Professor and then became the Director–Professor, Division of Endocrinology until leaving for AIIMS in 2000. He was at the AIIMS until 2003, by which time he was awarded his DM in Endocrinology.
He was on deputation to Zulekha Hospital as Consultant Endocrinologist from 2004–2006 and then went back to India where he was Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Maulana Azad Medical College. This was his most recent stint before joining NMC Specialty Hospital in Abu Dhabi in August 2014.
Dr. Dinesh has published papers in various prestigious peer-reviewed international journals and has been a visiting professor at Yerevan State Medical University and a Commonwealth Fellow at the University of Southampton. He has held positions of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Advanced Medical Research (JoAMR), Editor of Medical Progress (Indian Edition), Editor of Scientific Proceedings Medicine Update 2006 and 2010, Reviewer for JCEM, EDM, BMJ case reports and also contributed to the Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism.
He has been given awards by various Indian and international organizations that include, amongst others, the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine, APPES (Cairns, Australia), Commonwealth Commission (UK), Delhi State Doctors Award, Bhagirathi Samman, AV Gandhi Award for Excellence in Endocrinology (Bangalore).
Dr. Dinesh has also led and participated in over 10 clinical trials and has written over 50 research papers.
