Dr. Akram Mahmood Shammat is a Specialist Gastroenterologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and digestive disorders. He has more than 8 years of experience in Gastroenterology and advanced endoscopic procedures, with a strong focus on evidence-based and patient-centred care.
Dr. Akram completed his medical degree in 2011 and later obtained his Master’s Degree and Syrian Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in 2017 after completing specialised residency training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Tishreen University Hospital, Syria.
He is currently practicing in the UAE and has experience performing more than 4000 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including Gastroscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, PEG tube insertion, liver biopsy procedures, Capsule Endoscopy, and Gastric Balloon procedures for weight loss management.
Dr. Akram has a strong clinical interest in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, pancreatobiliary diseases, minimally invasive gastrointestinal interventions, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) management. He continuously participates in international conferences, workshops, and CME activities to stay updated with the latest advancements and international guidelines in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
