
Dr Furat Wahab Consultant Endocrinology, with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. He completed his medical education with an MBChB from the School of Medicine, Baghdad University in 1988, followed by further training at St. George's Hospital Medical School, London, where he earned multiple qualifications, including the LMSSA, LRCP, and LRCS in 1999. Dr. Furat holds a Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training (CCST) in Diabetes and Endocrinology, an MRCP in the same field, and a Diploma from Barts & London School of Medicine. Additionally, he has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in Edinburgh.
Dr Furat's professional journey has seen him hold key positions across various reputable institutions in the UK and UAE. His recent role was a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Internal Medicine. Prior to this, he served as a Consultant in the same specialty at multiple hospitals in the UK, including Blackburn Royal Hospital and Grantham District Hospital. His extensive experience also includes specialty training in Diabetes and Endocrinology across several teaching hospitals in Leeds, Kent, and Lancashire.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Furat is deeply involved in medical education and research. He has served as an Honorary Lecturer at the Medical Schools of the University of Central Lancashire and Leicester University. Dr. Furat has also taken on the role of Clinical Lead in Diabetes and Endocrinology for fourth-year medical students at UCLAN, Leicester, and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. His contributions to the field are further evidenced by his involvement in various research projects and audits, including those focused on the management of diabetic ketoacidosis and thyroid antibodies.
