
Merin Varghese an accomplished Speech and Swallow Pathologist/Deglutologist with over 5 years of experience specializing in adult and paediatric care. She holds a Master’s in Deglutology and Swallowing Disorders from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, India, and a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Trivandrum, India.
Merin's professional journey includes pivotal roles such as the first-ever Speech and Swallow Pathologist at Government Medical College, Kozhikode, India. She has conducted extensive therapy and diagnostic sessions addressing a wide range of conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), ADHD, Intellectual Disability, and neurogenic communication disorders. Her expertise extends to advanced diagnostic procedures like Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS), and laryngoscopy.
During her tenure as a Junior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, India, Merin conducted groundbreaking research on aphasia in stroke patients, focusing on speech and motor outcomes. She has also managed complex cases involving neurological impairments, head and neck cancer, and degenerative disorders.
