
An Anesthesiologist with over 35 years of international experience in 6 countries, Dr. Monzer Sadek currently serves as the Head of Anesthesiology in Abu Dhabi and is recognized as a Chief Anesthesiologist in Abu Dhabi. He has combined high-quality care with extensive leadership and education experience. As a Senior Consultant Anesthesia Abu Dhabi, he brings profound expertise to the field. Dr. Sadek has served in medical education and leadership roles including Chair of Anesthesia SSMC/Mayo Clinic UAE, Anesthesia department head Abu Dhabi, Division Chief of Adult Anesthesiology at Sidra Medicine in Qatar, Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar, Department Chair of Anesthesia (acting) at Geraldton Regional Hospital Australia and Section Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Anesthesia at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Saudi Arabia. He is widely respected as a Senior anesthesia specialist and a dedicated HOD of Anaesthesia services in various leading institutions.
During his tenure at SSMC, Dr Sadek worked to align the department of Anesthesia and complementary services as patient-centered, team-based, staff-supporting academic medical services by the principles of the Mayo Clinic. Dr Sadek successfully restructured and led a diverse multicultural department towards a focused strategic goal of optimizing patient quality of care and safety. Dr Sadek has received numerous awards for his valuable service and contributions towards SSMC's success.
At Sidra Medicine, Dr Sadek spearheaded the establishment of the Anesthetic Department using an interdepartmental collaborative approach for the successful integrated activation of the hospital. He also facilitated the development of the department's services in line with world-class standards to respond to the needs of patients in a culturally sensitive manner. In March 2021, the Department of Adult Anesthesia at Sidra Medicine was awarded the Center of Excellence in Obstetric Anesthesia by The Society for Obstetric Anesthesia & Perinatology in recognition of clinical excellence in the provision of safe and effective obstetric anesthesia care.
Dr. Sadek was awarded the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists and completed his clinical Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship in 2003 in Australia. In 1996, he also completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and ICU at the Faculté De Médesine De Brest, Université De Bretagne Occidentale, France. Dr Sadek completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (1989), Master of Medicine in Anesthesia (1994), and Doctor of Medicine in Anesthesia (2000) at Cairo University School of Medicine.
Dr Sadek is an internationally and nationally invited speaker & instructor and continuously engaged as a board member of medical committees, including as an Editorial Board member of Clinical Anesthesia and Pain Medicine for the Journal of Translational Medicine 2015–2024.
