
Dr. Javed Ismail is a certified Specialist in Paediatric Critical Care. He completed his general Paediatric training from one of the best tertiary care teaching institutes in India (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi).
He further trained in Paediatric Critical Care in a tertiary care teaching hospital, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) (1800 bed capacity), Chandigarh, India.
Dr. Javed is skilled in managing patients with severe sepsis, septic shock, seizures, coma, raised intracranial pressure diabetic ketoacidosis, severe pneumonia – ARDS, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, post-surgical patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, and poly-trauma.
He is also well trained in taking care of sick children in both Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Paediatric Emergency Units.
Dr. Javed had worked as a specialist in Paediatric Critical Care in tertiary care hospitals across India, His skills include - airway stabilisation techniques (including endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask airway), mechanical ventilation (invasive including high frequency ventilation and non-invasive like CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC), optimisation of hemodynamics (ultrasound-guided insertion of central venous access – internal jugular, subclavian, femoral; arterial line insertion; use of vasoactive medications, ultrasound-based assessment of fluid status), renal support - haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, multimodal neurological monitoring techniques (including insertion of intracranial pressure monitoring lines, EEG).
He has over 25 publications in reputed national and international journals and 5 book chapters in paediatric emergency and intensive care to his credit.
As a faculty of ‘Paediatric Advanced Life Support courses’, ‘Basic Paediatric Intensive Care Courses’, Dr. Javed was also involved in the training of residents, practising paediatricians and junior faculty members of medical colleges and hospitals for the past 5 years.
He is a life member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), IAP Intensive Care Chapter and Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).
