Dr Gursharan Singh has over 25 years of experience in surgery. He completed his MS General Surgery from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in 1997. He worked in prestigious multispecialty hospitals like Amrita hospital and Lakeshore hospital Kochi, Kerala, in Department of Gastrointestinal surgery and liver transplantation. He specializes in entire range of surgeries pertaining to digestive diseases particularly liver, pancreas, and biliary tract. He is adept with the skills necessary for both open and modern laparoscopic surgery. He has extensive experience in liver resections, pancreatic diseases, both medical and surgical management of acute pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, operations for gallbladder &, bile duct cancer.
Dr Gurusharan completed his training in Hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and liver transplantation surgery from University of Rennes, France in 2007. He has got vast experience in liver resections for cancer, cysts and liver injury, pancreatic surgeries for cancer like Whipples Pancreaticoduodenectomy, Puestow’s Longitudinal Pancreatic Jejunostomy for chronic pancreatitis, and Distal Pancreatectomy for tumors and stone. He also has experience in management of Acute Pancreatitis. He further enriched his experience in liver transplantation in Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi and enhanced his expertise in living related liver transplant and pancreas and kidney transplantation in Seoul, Korea. He was head of department of Hepato biliary pancreatic surgeries and multi-organ transplant surgery in PSG hospital, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He performed the first successful dual Liver and Kidney transplant and the first Living related Liver transplant surgery in Coimbatore.
Dr Gurusharan published many articles in medical journals from his experience of rare cases and innovations in treatment. He is the active member of prestigious Surgical Societies such as International Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Association, The Transplantation Society, The Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology. He is a peer reviewer of journal articles from The Transplantation Direct Journal.
