Dr. Sally Omer El-Goni completed her MBBS from the University of Bahr Elgazal, Sudan in 2005. In 2008, she completed her MRCSII in Edinburgh, and thereafter in 2009, she completed MRCS I in the same place. She completed her MD in General Surgery from the Sudan Medical Specialization Board in 2013. Dr. Sally has taken a fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery from World Laparoscopy Hospital, India and thereafter completed her Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery from the same hospital in 2016.
Dr. Sally started her career in the Surgical Department, Omdurman Military Hospital, Sudan in 2006 and then in the General Surgery Department, Alban Gadeed Hospital, Sudan in 2009. In 2013, she worked in the GIT Surgical Department in IbnSina Hospital, Sudan trained mainly GIT and Biliary surgeries as well as Upper and Lower GIT Endoscopy performance. In 2014, she worked as a Specialist in General & Laparoscopic Surgery at various hospitals in Sudan. In 2017, she moved to the UAE and continued her practice as a Specialist in General Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery in a government hospital in Sharjah.
Dr. Sally has also worked as an Assistant professor in General Surgery and Lecturer in General Surgery, in various universities in Sudan and the UAE since 2014. She is a Member of the World Laparoscopy Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and a Member of the Women in Surgery Africa Surgeons Association. Dr. Sally has attended various local, regional, and international conferences related to her field. She was awarded the She for She award by the Women in Surgery Africa Association in 2019.
Dr. Sally‘s areas of interest include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and appendectomy, laparoscopic hernia, umbilical hernia surgery, thyroid surgeries, wide local excision and mastectomies, gall bladder and biliary surgery including distal pancreatectomy, hydatid cyst, bowel surgeries (resection and anastomosis), inguinal hernia, incisional hernia epigastric hernia, umbilical and periumbilical hernia repair, all types of excisional and incisional biopsies, in growing toenail excision, pilonidal sinus, male circumcision. She has extensive experience in breast surgeries including mastectomy, breast conservative surgery for early breast cancer, excisional and incisional biopsies, and anal conditions (fistulectomy, fistulatomy, management of high fistula in ano, and piles surgeries). She has managed cases that require operating on trauma patients, all acute abdominal emergencies which require immediate surgical intervention.
