Dr. Shailesh Khode, MSENT, MRCSEdENT, DOHNS, FEBORLHNS, FACS is a Specialist Oto-Rhino-Laryngology-Head-Neck-Sleep Surgeon at NMC Specialty Hospital (NMCSH), Abu Dhabi. Prior joining to NMCSH. Dr Khode spent 3 years at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as an Otolaryngologist and core teaching faculty for otolaryngology residency teaching program. He worked as a Staff Physician Dept of ENT-Head-Neck, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore for 4 years and received five times excellent patient service award.
Dr Khode is a fully trained ENT Head & Neck Surgeon with Master degree in Oto-rhino-laryngology, from Government Medical College, Nagpur, India (2008). He completed head-neck cancer surgery fellowship at Sir JJ group of Hospital, Mumbai, India (2009). He has received many international qualifications including MRCSEdENT(UK) (2014), DO-HNS (UK) (2014), Fellow European board of Otolaryngology (FEBORLHNS) (Austria) (2014), and Fellow of American College of Surgeon (FACS) (USA) (2017).
Dr. Khode was involved in multiple research projects in India and Singapore. He has many national and international publications peer index journals on his name. He delivered multiple talks in national and international conferences including invited speaker talk at Seoul, Korea.. He was also the faculty demonstrator for head and neck cadaver dissection workshops in India and wet dissection lab in UAE. He was a faculty and chairperson in Association of otolaryngologist of India national conference, 2019.
Dr Khode has extensive surgical experience of 17 years and his areas of expertise are:
- Snoring/ sleep apnea detail evaluation (includes Sleep study and drug induced sleep endoscopy) and related surgery e.g. relocation palatoplasty, coblation reduction of base tongue and removal lingual tonsil, epiglottoplexy, tongue reduction and soft palate stiffening by coblation channeling and removal of static obstruction.
- Head-Neck surgeries- thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, salivary gland tumour excision, and other head-neck lumps removal including cervical lymph node biopsies, pediatrics neck masses excision and congenital lesion resection.
- Ear surgeries - Myringoplasty, tympanomastoidectomy, grommet insertions, etc.
- Nose surgeries- Endoscopic polypectomy, sinus surgery, septoplasty, turbinate reduction, sinonasal lesion removal / excision.
- Throat surgeries – Endoscopic Coblation adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy/ tonsillotomy, oral cavity lesion including tongue lesion/ mass.
- Voice box and airway surgeries- microlaryngoscopic excision of vocal cord lesion, biopsies, tracheostomy, closure of tracheostomy stoma, airway and oesophageal foreign body removal.
