
Dr. Javed Ismail is a certified Specialist in Paediatric Critical Care and a recognized Pediatric Intensive Care Specialist in Abu Dhabi. He completed his general Paediatric training at one of the best tertiary care teaching institutes in India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He further trained in Paediatric Critical Care at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India, which is a 1800-bed capacity hospital. As a PICU Doctor in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Javed has extensive expertise in the management of critically ill children.
Dr. Javed is skilled in managing patients with severe sepsis, septic shock, seizures, coma, raised intracranial pressure, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe pneumonia – ARDS, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, post-surgical patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, and poly-trauma. His specialized experience also includes being a Children's Critical Care Specialist and caring for sick children in both the Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Paediatric Emergency Units. Dr. Javed’s proficiency as a Neonatal and Paediatric ICU Expert is evident through his ability to manage a range of complex cases.
Dr. Javed has worked as a specialist in Paediatric Critical Care in tertiary care hospitals across India. His skills include airway stabilization techniques (including endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway), mechanical ventilation (both invasive, including high-frequency ventilation, and non-invasive, like CPAP, BiPAP, and HFNC), and optimization of hemodynamics. His expertise as a Paediatric Emergency Care Doctor also covers ultrasound-guided insertion of central venous access (internal jugular, subclavian, femoral), arterial line insertion, use of vasoactive medications, ultrasound-based assessment of fluid status, renal support (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis), and multimodal neurological monitoring techniques, including the insertion of intracranial pressure monitoring lines and EEG.
Dr. Javed has over 25 publications in reputed national and international journals and five book chapters in paediatric emergency and intensive care. His contributions as a Child Critical Care Unit Specialist have been instrumental in advancing the field. Additionally, as a faculty member for 'Paediatric Advanced Life Support courses' and 'Basic Paediatric Intensive Care Courses,' Dr. Javed has trained residents, practising paediatricians, and junior faculty members of medical colleges and hospitals for the past 5 years.
He is a life member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), IAP Intensive Care Chapter, and the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).
