
Professor. Dr Derk W. Krieger is a German-board certified Consultant Neurologist with 30 years of experience. He holds his PHD in Neuroscience from Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts, and MD from Medical school in Bochum and Aachen, Germany. He has received his basic neurology training in Heidelberg, Germany and subsequently worked as a Consultant at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio, United States and Chairman of Cerebrovascular Diseases at University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
His main research involved acute stroke care and neurocritical care. He has been in leadership positions in the field of neurosciences since 2008. He remains active in research and teaching with more than 200 peer reviewed publications. Dr Krieger has been involved in groundbreaking development of novel therapies for stroke routine patient care, and, also, cardiac interventions addressing the coupling between the heart and the brain.
After his arrival in Dubai, neuroimmunology and headache disorders have become major interests in his practice.
